Welcome to the Codfather, home of award winning fish and chips in Northwich. We are as excited now as when we started and really do have a pure love for this job.
Since opening in April 2008 our passion to serve quality fish and chips has never diminished and we have certainly helped to put Northwich on the map.
The Codfather seeks to maintain a high standard at all times. There are ten fish and chip shops within a 3 mile radius of The Codfather which means our product must always be of the highest quality. We take great care in sourcing our ingredients from suppliers who can be relied on for excellent quality and consistency to deliver top quality.
All our fish is caught in the North Sea from stocks which are fully sustainable and which is line caught.
We offer Scottish Cod, Haddock and Plaice and we also offer Scampi from the only possible place, Whitby.
We use a few varieties of potatoes depending on the time of the year. We are currently using a yellow potato call Amora which are grown in Cambridgeshire.
We chip all our potatoes in our very own kitchen on site and every one is cooked to perfection at 175-180C to produce the perfect, tastier chip.
We take pride in every aspect of our fish & chips. The recipe for our batter is a closely kept secret. It contains no artificial colours or flavourings.
Our oil is filtered daily and continually changed, with all waste oil collected and used as bio-fuel. We only use frymax oil free from additives, low in transfats, contains no hydrogenated fats and no nut produce.
Frymax is the leading all vegetable frying fat for the fish frying trade with an enviable reputation for quality built up over 50 years. It is an additive free, longer lasting product delivering perfect performance time after time. Frymax contains no hydrogenated oils and has only a trace (less than 1%) of trans fatty acids.
We fry our fish and chips to order except at peak times so that you enjoy the best possible product. It takes a little longer but we think it is worth the wait.
Our fish supplier is Albert Darnell of Grimsby. All their fish is sourced according to the MSC guide.
